Description: This product is an electronic collection of the 1964 through 1971 Ford Car and Truck Technical Service Bulletins (TSB) released from October 19th, 1964 through September 10th, 1971. Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) are official communications between Ford & their dealerships that describe processes for troubleshooting or fixing certain common problems. TSB’s document recommended procedures for repairing vehicles, when there are several occurrences of an unanticipated problem. TSBs can range from vehicle-specific to covering entire product lines and break down the specified repair into a step-by-step process. While sometimes written by Ford engineers, the majority are authored by the first automotive technician to come up with a repair procedure. Because certain problems may have more than one cause and there is sometimes more than one way to fix a problem, there may be more than one TSB for the same problem.

Examples from the 1964-71 Ford Car and Truck Technical Service Bulletins:
Article #33 NEW SYNCHRO-VALVE
(All 1964-65 Trucks With Tractor Trailer Air Brake Package And Maxi Or Stop-Master Air Parking Brake Systems)
A new synchro-valve became effective in production approximately August 15, 1964 on all trucks with production installed tractor trailer air brake package and Maxi or Stopmaster (failsafe) parking brake systems. The new valve acts as a sensing device to initiate automatic application of the trailer brakes in event of a service brake failure on the towing vehicle. Figures 3 and 4 show typical schematic and valve. The new valve is available from Bendix- Westinghouse Distributors under Part BW-278825.

Article #187 INCORRECT ALTERNATOR AND POWER STEERING MOUNTING BRACKET INSTALLATION
(1965 Falcon, Mustang, Fairlane and Galaxie Equipped With 289 CID Engines)
Prior to October 2, 1964 an undetermined number of the subject vehicles were built with two (2) 5/16 inch flat washers between the attaching bolt heads and the alternator mounting bracket and two (2) between the attaching bolt heads and the power steering mounting bracket to the water pump and cylinder front cover. This condition results in insufficient thread engagement of the attaching bolts and could possibly induce loss of bolt torque causing vibration and short belt life. If customer complaints of vibration, noise, or worn belts are encountered, it is recommended that the vehicle be inspected and corrected as necessary by removing the 5/16 inch flat washers. These flat washers are to be discarded and not replaced when re-installing the brackets.

TSB’s provide valuable information not typically found in the shop service manuals and can explain why some “fixes” were performed by Ford mechanics.
